The Dynamic Story of Teen Fiction Author Sarah Anne Sumpolec

Sarah Anne Sumpolec is the author of a compelling and popular teen series entitled Becoming Beka. The Five-book series details the life of 16 year old Beka through her Junior and Senior year; a very troubling time period for many young women to experience. During this time a teenage girl is just at the door step of woman- hood, and yet still a young girl.

Sarah’s amazing testimony of her own personal life’s transformation of becoming a teen witch to accepting the gift of salvation and becoming a Christian, is enthralling and inspirational; and has been featured on the 700 Club and the Tyra Banks Show.

Sarah’s greatest passion is her writing, and speaking to teens about her own traumatic experiences as a confused teenage girl. Sarah was raised in a home where her father believed in everything paranormal, Ouija boards, and books about witchcraft. She eagerly followed her father’s teachings, and in her eyes he became her hero. Until one day through her father’s drug addiction he pointed a gun to her head at the tender age of fourteen. During this confusing time, trying to desperately grasp her father’s drug addiction, she felt powerless and desperate to find strength; she turned to the occult for power, strength, and answers.
She began to practice witch craft in High school, became consumed in the New Age Philosophy, and celebrated and practiced Wiccan rituals.

During her senior year she entered a very dark place during her life’s journey, and began to accept the idea that death was her only option to have a new life, so she embraced the idea of suicide as her only option for the ultimate healing for her deep emotional pain. When Sarah finally attempted suicide, she did not succeed. Instead she found herself lying lifeless on the floor, alone, empty, and once again full of despair and hopelessness. At this point in her life she felt her only option was to go away to college.

While in college Sarah had two roommates that happened to be Baptist. The Baptist roommates were very odd to Sarah, and initially hard to relate to. She was not pleased with her living arrangements however, she observed them carefully. She watched and listened to how they behaved. She reluctantly accepted an invitation to Inter Varsity, a campus ministry. During the campus ministry Sarah heard a sermon that pricked her heart, soul, and spirit. The sermon made perfect sense to her and gave her all the answers she was desperately seeking for her life. For all of Sarah’s life she felt lost, but at that moment she found a part of her that had died long ago as a child. The journey to accepting her Heavenly Father into her heart and life was not a smooth transition, but Sarah knew that she had finally arrived at the truth, and key to true peace and happiness.

The theme for Sarah’s fiction whether she writes for the screen or books is “naked truth”. When we come before our Heavenly father we can come without any preconditions, façade, and strip ourselves of our mask and just “keep it real “with God. This is what He desires from us, He doesn’t want our fake selves he wants all of us, and He reaches down and loves all of us uniquely, because we are all different with various needs. Before God we have the liberty to be vulnerable, transparent, and completely authentic.

This is how Sarah found her healing and complete transformation, and is revealed in her writing and through speaking to teens. For many years she felt ashamed of her past and hid her story but actually began to find healing through writing and telling her personal and traumatic story.
