Ti's The Season To Be Jolly?
Ti's the season to be seemingly jolly. It is true, the Christmas season is supposed to be one of the happiest times of the year right? At least that is what all the television and radio commercials are telling us every ten minutes. And let's not forget all the cheerful Christmas music ringing throughout the mega stores, and stuffed Santa Clauses and reindeer that seem to plague us at every turn throughout the entire holiday season.
But underneath all the layers of mistletoe, candy canes, eggnog, and yards of colorful and animated gift wrap, unfortunately, Christmas can be the most painful time of the year. The Christmas season is at times a harrowing reminder of losing a loved one to death, divorce, incarceration, or many other tragic circumstances.
Others may experience severe loneliness or depression from lack of family or feeling a disconnect from society. Let us begin to put aside all the fluffy mandates of what the Christmas season is "supposed" to mean and explore the true meaning of Christmas.
Christmas is not about receiving, it is about giving. And giving does not constitute something material. Giving means to serve others. Servitude can be demonstrated in various ways; but it is primarily sharing your God given gifts with others. We all have these Heavenly gifts within us, we just have to take time to discover what they truly are.
Our Heavenly Father gave us the first gift of Christmas, by giving His only son in form of a beautiful baby to save a dying world. Why would God sacrifice His only son to save a dark and dying world? Because you are special, and you are loved!
If you have not learned a single tangible lesson in 2008, understand and know that you are unique and God has designed a purpose just for you! And no one can take this Heavenly gift away from you.
If your Christmas looks bleak at this moment, because you are comparing your holiday expectations to society's seasonal dictations. Shake it off, and begin to celebrate your unique gifts. Share and begin to serve others; and the authentic meaning of your life and internal beauty will begin to shine forth.
Until Next Year,
Peace and Blessings
